Clearwater, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is a leader in the global seafood industry recognized for its premium quality and commitment to sustainability. Their vertical integration and record of innovative technologies are designed to deliver the very finest seafood from "ocean to plate."
Louisbourg Seafoods, of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, is a family operated seafood business. Established in 1984, they are a processor of high quality snow crab, coldwater shrimp, and groundfish.
The Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture provide services to the province's agriculture and fishing sectors – two of the biggest economies in the province's coastal and rural regions.
Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, is home to St. Mary's River Smokehouses. St. Mary's has grown to be one of the largest salmon smokehouses in Canada, processing close to a million pounds of Atlantic salmon annually, and employing 12 people.
Bluenose Seafood Inc., of Halifax, Nova Scotia, packages and processes Atlantic salmon, groundfish, lobster, mackerel, pollock, redfish, swordfish, three types of shark, and three types of tuna.
Founded in 1991 to specialize in northern shrimp, Davis Strait Fisheries, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has become one of the largest importers of frozen and wet salted raw material for sales to Canadian fish plants for further processing. They currently employ 110 staff members.
Fisher King is a young company based in Halifax with a vessel management office in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. This company was established in 1996 to sell processed seafood products primarily in the United States, with a secondary focus on Europe and Asia. They currently employ seven staff members.
United Trans Ltd., of Halifax, Nova Scotia, packages and processes dogfish, groundfish, sea cucumber, and three types of shark.
Cuisine Industrielle Pro-Mer Inc., of Caraquet, New Brunswick, is an expanding company busy producing its new line of shrimp, salmon and scallop sausages as well as lobster cakes and salmon fillets stuffed with shrimp.
The New Brunswick Department of Fisheries is responsible for managing the province's fisheries, and is currently working on a marketing project aiming to increase the sale of frozen lobster products to China.
True North Salmon Company, of Black’s Harbour, New Brunswick, is a family-operated aquaculture business. Since 1985, True North Salmon Company has grown to become Atlantic Canada’s leading fully-integrated producer of certified quality Bay of Fundy Atlantic Salmon products. They currently employ 250 staff members.
Headquartered in Shediac, New Brunswick, Gourmet Chef Packers is located in the heart of the North Atlantic lobster producing area. Such proximity to raw materials and processors allows for maximum co-ordination between processors and customers, resulting in a premium product and superior responsiveness to customer needs.
Partner Seafood Inc., of Shediac, New Brunswick, harvests fresh and frozen fish and seafood products, and customizes processing and packaging based on the client’s specifications, matches the client’s delivery schedule, and ensures the customized product is shipped to the client’s door on time, with no hassle.
VIP Seafood, of Memramcook, New Brunswick, processes and packages snow crab, lobster products, scallops, and more.
Confederation Cove Mussel Co. Ltd, of Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island, has been in operation since April 2000. After renovations and a major expansion, the island’s most modern mussel processing facility was created.
Innovation PEI leads business development efforts, including in the seafood, aquaculture and fisheries industry, for the province.
PEI Mussel King Inc., of Morell, Prince Edward Island, was established in 1979 and currently employs 80 staff members. The company produces top-quality string-cultured mussels and ships year-round to satisfied customers in North America, the Middle East, the Pacific Rim and Europe.
Based in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Royal Star Foods Ltd is a worldwide supplier of lobster and pelagics. For over 84 years, their Star of the Sea brand products have been produced in their locally owned facility by quality minded people.
Atlantic Shellfish Products Ltd., of Morrel, Prince Edward Island, specializes in oysters, quahogs, clams, mussels, scallops.
Based in Montague, Prince Edward Island, BJ Trading & Marketing specializes in lobster (live and frozen), snow crab, rock crab, spider crab, mackerel, silversides, and whelk.
The Newfoundland and Labrador department of fisheries (Newfoundland and Labrador Seafood) develops implements and provides advice on fisheries and aquaculture policies for the support of resource and industry management, growth and development.
The Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association represents the interests of aquaculturists in Newfoundland. It is a member based, non-profit organization with a mandate to facilitate and promote commercial development of aquaculture.
Ocean Choice International, headquartered in St. John’s, Newfoundland, is a client of ACOA and has recently received $1,000,000 in assistance to research, acquire, modify, beta test, and integrate water jet cutting technology currently utilized in the chicken processing industry to trim yellowtail production at their processing facility in Marystown, Newfoundland.
Quinlan Brothers Ltd., of Bay de Verde, Newfoundland, currently employs 750 staff members, and produces and processes shrimp, crab, crab au gratin in natural shell, crab cakes, creamy crab cakes, shrimp cakes, and shrimp salad.
Whitecap International Seafood Exporters, of St. John’s, Newfoundland, is a fast growing seafood marketing company that markets for the finest seafood producers in the world.
